Gaddafi Duck

One of my more recent animations made on Flash. Sir David Attenborough is rudely interrupted by a crazy Libyan man from inside his egg. Uploaded before Gaddafis brutal demise so please do NOT think I am mocking a dead man.

Cat Atoms

CD cover designs from my sketchbook for a made up band. Part of my graphics module on my foundation course.

Final design. Based on the work of Alexander Rodchenko.

One Hour Photo - Manually Remastered With Stuffed Toys

This short film was made in a weekend for my Film studies coursework. It spoofs the film One Hour Photo in which Robin Williams plays the part of "Sy the photo guy". It is a humorous look into the techniques used in most mainstream films to manipulate the audience. My favourite scene to shoot was the dream sequence...that poor teddy still smells of ketchup.

Small Tin Control Panel

Inspired loosely by african tin toys, sci/fi props and the work of Andy Hazell. The "buttons" are simply cheap battery powered X-mas lights.

Canary Whistles

Made from old chocolate tins. These simple whistles emit a noise when spun round by their string. I made over 40 of them for an A level exam. I then recorded and layered the tracks to produce a cacophony of fake bird song. Listen below.

Australian Holes

Experimental film taken on a holiday to Australia.

Bottle Cap Whistles

Whistles I made for an A level project. I used bottle caps from Spitfire ale, good excuse to drink! And they do work, honest.

Toy Plane

Toy plane made from old biscuit tins. Soldered together and spray painted red. Design from the book "Hobby Craft Toys from Tins".

Camera Obscuras

This is work from my latest project. It is for the sculpture unit on my foundation course. The brief is to base my work on one of the "5 senses". I opted for sight.
Design ideas for a mini camera obscura.
Time-lapse of a camera obscura I constructed in my living room. Inspired by the work of Abelardo Morell.

The photo above was taken with a homemade attachment that resembles a mini camera obscura/kaleidoscope. It consists of a long card tube covered at one end with only 4 pinholes to let the light in. Roughly halfway down the tube a circular screen made of tracing paper is placed, this is where the upside down image appears. After an exposure of a few seconds I was left with this grainy, unclear, upside down, kaleidoscopic image of the house across the road.

Man That Looks Like A Fish

Pencil drawing from a sketchbook. I went through a fish phase. Its over now you will be glad to hear.

Continuous Contact Drawing

Drawings from my sketchbook, drawn in a continuous line without looking at the page. I like the diversity in outcomes these experiments produce, not one image of the boat looks alike.

Tin Mice

Mice made from old biscuit tins. Each one is made from a single sheet bent to the right shape. The mice in this photo where spray painted white with matt white enamel.

Knob Bags

Plaster casts of a real knob I found, painted black, with an adhesive pad stuck to the base. Intended to be sold as a humorous novelty. On the back of the label it reads "Stick it anywhere!". A crude joke I know, but it made me laugh at the time.

Party Blower Ball

Adventurous experimental piece that did not quite work as planned. The ball of party blowers was connected to a cheap leaf blower, it had nowhere near enough power to even rustle the paper coils! Let alone inflate them all like I had intended.

(Very loud, I suggest having your volume quite low)
While the leaf blower was on I was able to manually pull out several of the paper coils. I like the way they retreat back into the ball. Gives you some idea of what it might look like had the leaf blower been powerful enough.

Dials

For one of my A-level projects I made 8 "dial boxes" for my final piece. The tin used to create these kinetic sculptures is from old biscuit/chocolate tins.

Video of them in action.
